Western College was established in the year 2000. By today the college is well versed in the fields it provides tuition. The college has produced many professionals (through face-2-face and distant learning) most of whom are holding high positions in many public as well as private sector organisations internationally (including Zimbabwe, The USA etc).
Throughout all these years the college has been able to build a highly qualified, high caliber, talented, experienced and dedicated team of lecturers. This enables the institution to take you to the highest level of your field of study i.e. helping you through until you become a Chartered Financial Accountant, Chartered Management Accountant, and Chartered Marketer etc or even acquire a masters Degree. The college lies at a quiet place by the city side of Blantyre with good road network. This enables the college to comfortably conduct Weekend Classes, Evening Classes and Midweek Classes.
Being located at a place conducive for learning and having team of highly qualified lecturers together with its good campus and a strong Board of Directors, in April 2011 the college managed to convince an inspection team from the Ministry of education Science and Technology, and TEVETA after meeting the required standards and the team recommended that the institution be Registered by the Malawi Government’s Ministry of Education science and technology.
Therefore Western College is an accredited and a recognized institution.
Western College was deeply concerned with the sad medical situation in Malawi revealed by Malawl's vice president in November 2012 at National Organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi conference that it is invaded by very high unbalanced 'medical personnel:patient' ratio (at 75%} putting unbearable pressure on available personnel of delivering quality medical services. Western College through its deliberate diversification programme would want to help Malawi government to achieve MDGs by investing in medical education through its partner; Texila American University, hence this initiative to contact Medical Council of Malawi.
